Levantera: Tale of the Winds
The Game
Levantera: Tale of the Winds is an indie game created by Lasso Games that I’m happy to say I’ve started work on.
It is a platforming adventure game – think Castlevania and Metroid – with open world elements akin to games like Sid Meier’s Pirates. It also includes RPG elements through access to new weapons, ship upgrades, and a crew.
The main thrust of the game is about a shipwrecked adventurer discovering the mystery of the new lands they found themselves in.
While the player is on land, the game plays like a platformer, but the player can take off in their ship and explore the open world areas, occasionally getting in to ship battles along the way. Ships can be repaired and upgraded, and the player can land on any coastal section of the open world to explore.

My Work
I am currently involved in level design for the platforming areas that make up the open world sections. The team is international, and we coordinate our efforts through regular communication. Content management of the game is achieved through the use of Bitbucket and SourceTree.
Because players can dock their ships anywhere in the open world and get off on to dry land, there needs to be content within these sections of open world to lend variety to it, and to give the player something to do.
My job is currently to build these levels and dungeons that form the many landing points within the open world.
Screenshots of some of the sections I’ve worked on, are on the left.
